Mount Prospect Housewalk tickets on sale soon

Tickets go on sale Nov. 1 for the Mount Prospect Historical Society's 29th annual Holiday Housewalk, which will highlight the neighborhood surrounding St. Mark Lutheran Church, 205 S. Wille St., immediately south of the Prospect Avenue commercial district.

The walk will be from 3:30 to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2.

The interiors of six private homes, built between 1923 and 2005, will be featured. The exteriors and histories of two other homes will also be highlighted.

The homes featured both inside and outside are: 210 S. Main St., owned by Denise and Philip Rominski; 210 S. Wille St., owned by Joe and Maria Plata; 217 S. Pine St., owned by John and Amy Ward; 205 S. Elmhurst Ave., owned by Matt and Jill Schiltz; 207 S. Elmhurst Ave., owned by Jenny Myk; and 208 S. Elmhurst Ave., owned by Beth and Joe Zander.

The exteriors of 223 S. Pine St. and 221 S. Wille St. will also be highlighted with historical notes featured on lighted outdoor podiums.

All of the homes will be exciting to tour in their own ways, whether because of the historic flavor, lovely decorating or the renovation work that has been done, according to Jill Tumberger, Housewalk co-chairwoman.

The tour will begin at St. Mark Lutheran Church, where refreshments will be offered and watercolors of the featured houses displayed. Museum store items will also be sold there. The "will call" table for tickets ordered through PayPal will also be located at the church.

As usual, this walking tour will be accented by luminaria. Parking will be available along neighborhood streets.

Commentary will be provided by volunteers from local organizations, businesses, schools and the community. Local florists and homeowners will provide the decorations. This year's featured florists are Busse Flowers and Gifts and The Purple Rose of Mount Prospect, Pesche's Flowers of Des Plaines, The Flower Studio of Rolling Meadows and Mariano's Market of Arlington Heights.

Tickets are $28 through Dec. 1 at First Merit Bank, 50 N. Main St.; Mount Prospect State Bank, 299 W. Central Road; Busse Flowers and Gifts, 100 E. Northwest Hwy.; River Trails' Weiss Center, 1500 E. Euclid Ave.; Lions Park Recreation Center, 411 S. Maple St.; Millie's Hallmark, 1024 S. Elmhurst Road; Dave's Specialty Foods, 105 W. Prospect Ave.; and the Dietrich Friedrichs House museum, 101 S.
