Cubs fan leaves no doubt about which team he's backing in the playoffs
Jim McNamara of Hoffman Estates is doing what he can to show support for his beloved Cubbies by painting a 27-foot-diameter version of the team's logo on his front lawn.
But the players first had to prove they're worth the effort.
"I only put it up when they clinched the division," McNamara said Wednesday. "They've got to get past the Dodgers for me to add any more stuff."
This is the second year in a row McNamara's had the opportunity to get this far. He gets the dimensions correct by working from a download of the logo on his iPad.
While the initial work took between 10 and 12 hours, every rainfall requires another 3-hour touch-up, he said.
McNamara admits his neighbors think he's nuts, and the logo receives strong reactions from passing drivers on Flagstaff Lane when he's out working on it.
To put it gently, McNamara said, it's been easy to tell the Cubs fans from the White Sox fans.
