Teams compete in Prospect Marching Knights' event

Prospect Marching Knights hosted the 21st Annual Knight of Champions Marching Band Competition Saturday, Oct. 1.

Nine bands from the Chicago area competed in class A, AA and AAA. Awards were given for first, second and third place, as well as caption awards in Auxiliary, Percussion, Music Performance, Visual Performance, and General Effect. All schools received participatory recognition awards.

First-place awards were given in Class A to Sandwich High School, Class AA to Wheeling High School and in Class AAA to Lake Park High School.

"We are very thankful for all of the students, supporters, directors and staff that made it out to this year's Knight of Champions," Prospect Marching Knights Director Chris Barnum said of the event.

"I'd also like to thank the Prospect Band Boosters for their endless work and the Prospect High School administration and staff for their endless support."

The Prospect Marching Knights took the field at the end of the evening in exhibition performance. Their 2016 show is titled "In the Arena."

The Marching Knights will compete next at the University of Illinois Saturday, Oct. 15, and, in November, the team will travel to New York City to perform in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
