Protect transportation money

I don't know much ... and that includes anything about the proposed amendment to the Illinois Constitution for Transportation Funds. I saw an ad on TV and was glad to receive Jesse White's blue booklet describing it with pros and cons which I have read. But this I know, thinking that our elected officials are capable of effectively prioritizing the use of public funds or passing legislation for our betterment is a stretch. They cannot even pass a budget, properly fund pensions, redistrict without bias, etc. Robbing Peter to pay Paul never works. We're better off using funds for the purpose they were intended, like fixing roads. So at least when you fill up at the pump you'll know that gas tax will benefit our roads.
