Four collector-car owners take home awards at cruise night

It's been a whirlwind summer and sadly our cruising season has come to a close. We went out with a bang though - celebrating with an over the top show last week at Stratford Square Mall in Bloomingdale.

Our September award winners are:

Fan favorite: 2000 Chevrolet Corvette, Steven and Dolores Davis, Streamwood.

Stratford Gem award: 1957 Ford Thunderbird, Richard Majszak of Crystal Lake and his St. Bernard dogs, Bailey and Oz.

Zeigler Automotive Gem award: 1965 Chevrolet Chevelle, Jill Karg, Des Plaines.

Matt Avery's Pick: 1966 Ford Thunderbird, Larry Leafblad, Grayslake.

Headlining our live on stage performances was country rockers, In the Stix. The band gave us a jamming, all out show and was a tremendous hit with the crowd. In addition, we had several new food trucks and lots of new activities and games for the kids. Our sponsors contributed raffle prizes and many car owners went home with all some additional goodies, from restaurant gift cards to and storage rack from the Garage Store.

In addition, we collected money for our longtime partner, the Luthern Church Charities Kare-9 Ministries. It was a great way to say thanks for all the work they do providing comfort to those in need. Their veteran members and adorable golden retrievers presented our national anthem to open each cruise night.

It's been a great season of cruising and we truly hope you enjoyed each and every show you came to. We're already making plans for the 2017 season which will be even bigger and better.

Stay tuned to our Facebook page for the latest updates and also be sure to read Matt Avery's column, Classic Recollections, in the Daily Herald, every weekend. To see the full recap of the show last week, click here.
