Palatine police offer free car seat inspections

The Palatine Police Department is hosting a free event from noon to 3 p.m. Friday that will give parents the opportunity to have their children's car seats inspected by an expert.

Called "Don't Graduate Too Early," the event will take place at the Palatine police station, 595 N. Hicks Road.

A certified car seat technician will inspect the car seats and make sure they are appropriate for the child's age, weight and height. They also will make sure that the seat is right for the type of vehicle it is in.

The event is one of 84 similar taking place statewide sponsored by AAA, Illinois Secretary of State, Rush-Copley Medical Center, and the Illinois Department of Transportation.
