DuPage board needs to lead on pensions

With the economy in its present state, is there going to be a time where Dan Cronin and the current DuPage County Board are going to exclude themselves from the pension system as the county board has in McHenry County?

Governor Rauner has signed a bill for new county board members but that does not take care of current members who have no accountability with their past hours. Where is the transparency that Dan Cronin prides himself on which is nonexistent when it is for his benefit? What documentation does he and current members have to support their claims for future collection of a pension?

I can pretty much guarantee you that there will be some backpedaling of hour logs being created to make sure they have the minimum 20 hours a week. Why are county board members who work part-time eligible for a pension with benefits, not to mention they are paid more money than any of the surrounding counties for a job where they most likely do not even qualify for the benefits with under achieving the 20 hour minimum weekly? Why does the county board feel they are above everybody else when it comes to tightening the purse strings to save tax payers money?

The DuPage County Board is a prime example of Illinois politics in which the citizens are fed up. The county board needs to lead by making examples of themselves before utilizing their practice of county reduced budgets and government consolidation which does not always produce being cost effective and puts more power into the hands of a part-time board chairman.
