Lake in the Hills police search for SUV involved in hit-and-run crash

Lake in the Hills police are searching for a black sport utility vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run crash that injured a motorcyclist Tuesday night.

The 38-year-old male was struck by the vehicle at about 7 p.m. on the 6900 block of Rakow Road, authorities said Wednesday. He suffered multiple injuries and was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin where his condition is unknown.

Both the SUV and motorcyclist were traveling eastbound on Rakow Road. The SUV is large and a newer model with passenger side damage. It left the scene before police arrived, police said.

"It is possible the passenger side mirror may be damaged or missing," Officer Chris Miller said.
