Wheeling man charged in Mount Prospect home invasion

A Wheeling man has been charged with multiple felonies after he broke into his ex-girlfriend's home and attempted to strangle her, police said.

Javier Noveron, 19, is charged with two counts of home invasion, one count of aggravated domestic battery and one count of robbery stemming from an altercation at a Mount Prospect home Monday afternoon, according to police.

Mount Prospect police officers were called to the home in the 300 block of North Main Street at 2:45 p.m. Monday, but while on the way they learned the intruder had already fled in a black Lincoln sedan.

The woman told police that Noveron had entered the home and confronted her and a male victim, police said. She said Noveron took her phone when she attempted to call 9-1-1, followed when she and the man attempted to get away from him, and threatened the man with a knife he stole from the kitchen, police said.

The man was able to escape the home, while Noveron followed the woman, grabbed her around the neck and began choking her, according to police. The woman suffered minor injuries.

Officers later spotted Noveron's car still in Mount Prospect and arrested him, police said.

Noveron appeared in court Wednesday, when a judge set his bail at $500,000. He will next appear in court Sept. 29.
