Offensive outburst downs Boomers

The Schaumburg Boomers looked poised for another tight one Saturday night before the Windy City ThunderBolts scored 9 runs in three innings en route to a 12-4 victory.

The Bolts scored one in the top of the first inning, but the Boomers responded with an RBI double from Jordan Dean and an RBI groundout from Mark Nelson to make it 2-1 after one. Dean accounted for all four Schaumburg runs, scoring three times and driving in one. Mikal Hill drove Dean home with an RBI single in the fourth to stretch the lead to 3-1. The Windy City bats took over from there three runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh to give the ThunderBolts a 10-3 lead.

Schaumburg forced a run across in the eighth on a Mike McClellan RBI single. Windy City first baseman Larry Balkwill completed his career day with a two-run home run in the ninth to make it a 12-4 win for the Bolts. Balkwill was 3-3 on the day with two walks and five RBI. Kagen Hopkins suffered the loss for Schaumburg, allowing four runs and striking out five in five innings of work.
