Emergency training offered

The Wauconda Community Emergency Response Team is scheduling training for new members. The class meets from 7 to 10 p.m. every Tuesday for six weeks beginning Sept. 13 at the Wauconda Fire Protection District Station 1, 109 W. Liberty St., Wauconda. The course agenda includes topics such as disaster preparedness and search and rescue. Based on a model created by the Los Angeles Fire Department, the goal is for emergency personnel to train members of neighborhoods, community organizations, or workplaces in basic response skills if a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the professional response.
