Waukegan man charged in mugging, attempted robbery

A Waukegan man has been charged in a mugging and an attempted robbery that occurred this week.

Timothy Brown, 48, whose last known address was in the 600 block of Lenox Avenue in Waukegan, was arrested by North Chicago police Friday on two warrants from Waukegan police, according to a news release.

Waukegan police said Brown robbed a woman over the age of 60 on the 900 block of Washington Park on Wednesday.

He is charged with robbery and aggravated battery in that case.

The next day, police said, Brown entered a disabled man's home on the 1300 block of North Avenue and tried to rob him. He is charged with home invasion, residential burglary, attempted robbery and battery to a person with a physical disability in the second case.

Brown is scheduled for a bond hearing Saturday in Lake County.
