Notes: The top 125 in the FedEx Cup qualified for the playoff portion of the series, starting at The Barclays. The top 100 in the standings are this week advance to the Deutsche Bank Championship ... Only 121 players will tee it up at Bethpage. The four who withdrew are Sergio Garcia, Masters champion Danny Willett, Shane Lowry and Anirban Lahiri, who is out with a shoulder injury. ... This is the final event to be among the eighth automatic qualifiers for the U.S. Ryder Cup team. Five players already have clinched spots - Dustini Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Phil Mickelson, Jimmy Walker and Brooks Koepka. ... Adam Scott and Phil Mickelson are among 16 players who have qualified for the FedEx Cup playoffs since they began in 2007. ... Hunter Mahan's streak of playing every playoff event ended at 35 tournaments last when he failed to make it to the Tour Championship. This year, he didn't qualify for the playoffs. ... Bethpage Black hosted The Barclays in 2012, won by Watney. It also hosted the U.S. Open in 2002 (Tiger Woods) and 2009 (Lucas Glover). ... Vijay Singh is the only player to win The Barclays and go on to win the FedEx Cup. That was in 2008 when the points were not reset after the third event.

Notes: Lydia Ko won her first LPGA Tour event at the Canadian Women's Open in 2012 when she was 15, becoming the youngest 72-hole winner of an LPGA event. She has won three times in the last four years. ... Karrie Webb won her first LPGA major at Priddis Greens in 1999 when it hosted the du Maurier Classic. ... The top three players in the women's world ranking are playing this week - Ko, Jutanugarn and Brooke Henderson. Jutanugarn withdrew during the third round of the Olympics because of tightness in her left knee, though she is expected to play. ... Inbee Park moved up to No. 4 in the world with her victory. She is taking the week off, and did not say if she would be in the final major of the year next month at the Evian Masters. ... The field is expected to have 33 LPGA members who were in Rio last week.

Notes: This is the final event for Europeans to earn money or world ranking points toward making the Ryder Cup team, though it now is a moot point. No one can make enough money or ranking points to crack the top nine. ... Martin Kaymer, Shane Lowry and Matthew Fitzpatrick are among those in the field. Also playing is Ryder Cup captain Darren Clarke. ... Paul Peterson played golf at Oregon State and has been on the Asian Tour. His victory at the Czech Masters makes him exempt on the European Tour through the end of 2017. He also became the 88th American to win a European Tour event.

Daly made the cut in the Czech Masters on the European Tour last week. He is the only player averaging more than 300 yards (302.2) in driving distance. ... Gene Sauers moved up 30 spots to No. 4 in the Charles Schwab Cup with his U.S. Senior Open victory. ... Miguel Angel Jimenez has finished no worse than a tie for fourth in his last seven PGA Tour Champions event. His only victory this year was the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic. The Spaniard has lost the lead going into the final round in his last three starts. ... Along with having a healthy lead on the money list, Bernhard Langer's scoring average is 68.84. He is following by Kevin Sutherland at 70.02.
