St. Isidore to hold annual basketball tournament

The St. Isidore Catholic Grade School and Parish parking lot and grounds will be transformed into a basketball extravaganza when the 17th annual Cyclones 3-on-3 basketball tournament tips off.

The tourney starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale.

More than 50 teams of up to 200 players are expected to participate on 12 portable courts. Last year's event raised more than $10,000 in support of St. Isidore School.

Parent Chairman Jason Ciolino said the tournament is open to the public but limited to students between third and 10th grades. Teams can feature a maximum of four players.

The entry fee is $100 per team and needs to be submitted by 3 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the school office, 431 W. Army Trail Road, Bloomingdale. Cash or checks are acceptable, with checks made payable to St. Isidore School.

"The 3-on-3 tournament has evolved into one of the most highly anticipated events and fundraisers of our school year," Ciolino said. "This is our 17th consecutive tournament, and to see our school and parish grounds filled with hundreds of players, spectators, food, music and fun is really something."

Each team will be grouped by age and experience into separate divisions. The tournament committee recommends a team's roster feature players of the same age or grade in school. Teams also must be made up of players of the same gender.

All teams are guaranteed a minimum of three games and will receive lunch from Rocco Vino's and commemorative T-shirts. Medals will be awarded to each division winner.

Tournament rules are listed along with other information and entry forms on the school's website at www.stisidoreparish.org/school.
