Aldi to open next week in Palatine

Aldi will open a new grocery store on Thursday, Aug. 25, at 761 Dundee Road in Palatine.

The new store will feature characteristics that the Batavia-company is known for including spacious aisles and checkouts, high ceilings and natural lighting. The store also was built with environmentally friendly materials, including energy-saving refrigeration and LED lighting, the company said.

As part of the Aug. 25 opening, Aldi will offer a golden ticket containing Aldi gift certificates of various amounts to the first 100 shoppers. They will also receive an eco-friendly bag, a Produce for a Year Sweepstakes and product sampling.

Aldi operates more than 1,500 stores in 34 states. About 32 million customers each month save up to 50 percent on their grocery bills, the company said.

The new Palatine Aldi takes the space of the of Staples, which has been closed for nearly two years.

The nearest Aldi store to Palatine is about two miles away at 1202 W. Dundee Road in Buffalo Grove.
