Crespo co-sponsored events assist hundreds of families

STREAMWOOD, Ill. - On Aug. 10, state Rep. Fred Crespo co-sponsored two simultaneous backpack distribution events that helped hundreds of families in Hanover Park and Streamwood start the school year with needed school supplies.

"The best part of these events is seeing the kids leave the distribution sites with backpacks and school supplies that help prepare them for success in the new academic year," Crespo said. "I am proud of the work we did with Hanover Township, Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider and Centro de Informacion to make a strong start to the year possible for hundreds of students."

The backpack distribution event hosted at the Astor Avenue Community Center in Hanover Park was co-sponsored by Hanover Township, state Representative Crespo and Cook County Commissioner Schneider. The backpack distribution event hosted at Ontarioville Elementary School in Hanover Park was co-sponsored by Hanover Township, state Rep. Crespo and Centro de Informacion.

In total, nearly 1,500 backpacks were distributed at the backpack distribution events. Backpacks were filled with standard school supplies for children in elementary school, grades kindergarten through eighth grade.
