Golf outing benefits DuPage needy, history museum
You don't need lederhosen to golf at the Oktoberfest-themed On Par for DuPage golf outing, but you must come prepared to help People's Resource Center and the DuPage County Historical Museum celebrate hope and history.
The the fourth annual On Par event, which supports the preservation of the county's history and the creation of a more hopeful future for neighbors in need, will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton.
"On Par for DuPage provides individuals and businesses the unique opportunity to support not one, but two reputable nonprofits who serve the entire DuPage community in very important ways. It is a fun way for neighbors to come together and promote a spirit of community for both organizations," said Kim Perez, executive director of People's Resource Center.
Registration includes 18 holes of golf with power cart, lunch, craft beer on the course, gimmick and contest holes, and a commemorative golfer gift. The day also includes an authentic Oktoberfest buffet dinner with an oompah band and access to a silent auction and raffle prizes.
The cost is $200 for individual golfers, $800 for a foursome and $50 for dinner only.
Each year, more than 200 attendees come together at the outing in support of the programs, classes and services both the museum and PRC offer to the community.
This past year, the golf outing has helped to support the DuPage County Historical Museum's newest exhibit, "Fun Unplugged," while also allowing People's Resource Center to provide computer training courses, community art classes and literacy programming for adults.
