Fox River Grove commuter parking now allows mobile app

Starting Aug. 15, Fox River Grove residents can use a mobile app to pay for parking in the village's commuter lots.

The village is introducing Passport at its commuter parking lots where previously motorists were able to pay only with cash at pay boxes.

With the Passport app, users can quickly pay for daily parking using the credit card payment option, monitor their session, and view parking history. Users can pre-fund their Fox River Grove Wallet with a minimum of $10 up to a maximum of $100. Funds can be added in $10 increments.

"This new mobile technology will make commuting much more convenient for our residents and other area commuters that utilize our Metra station," Mayor Robert Nunamaker said. "Passport has shown demonstrated success in mobile parking technology, so we felt that their app was a good choice for Fox River Grove."

During the launch, users can take advantage of a universal validation code - 60021 - which they can enter into the app to receive one free daily rate of parking. This promotion includes the $1.50 daily parking rate as well as the $0.37 cent convenience fee for using the app.

The PassportParking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play. Users also can manage their parking online at ppprk.com. Signage in the Metra parking lot also will provide instructions for downloading and using the app, including the location's zone number, 60021.

Passport is used in more than 15 suburbs and also developed ParkChicago, Chicago's mobile parking payment application.
