Police, firefighters take the ice

Thirty Lake County police and firefighters will square off from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20 in the Shoots vs Ladders annual charity hockey game at the Glacier Ice Arena, 670 Lakeview Parkway, Vernon Hills. The event raises money for the 100 Club of Chicago, which provides for the families and first responders who have died in the line of duty. Firefighters won the inaugural game last year. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children, and no family will pay more than $30. Donations totaling up to $1,000 will be matched by Country Financial.
