One too many 2nd Amendments?

Americans are apprehensive about committing our soldiers to a shooting war outside our borders but it would seem that we're engaged in one right here, where our homeland soldiers (the police) are being used for target practice.

I suppose it's much too late to be concerned with gun control now since 300 million are currently on the streets. But is there any rationale for the easy availability of assault weapons? Or those ammunition clips?

I thought we were long past the days of the Minutemen who were always at the ready to defend us, and our neighbors, from foreign invaders?

Now we must ever be on the alert to defend ourselves from our neighbors as they just might have an arsenal in their basement.

After 240 years of independence I hardly call that progress.

There's no doubt in my mind that Antonin Scalia felt protected from this constitutional right and Wayne LaPierre, too. Personally I've never felt safer knowing that almost anyone can obtain a gun (particularly an assault weapon).

What's more I am not about to buy one for myself just to keep up with our neighborhood armed forces; our country already has far too many George Zimmerman's. Maybe one too many Second Amendments as well!
