All lives are sacred.
In a recent letter, Rosemary Colbert contends that pro-life advocates may not value life outside the womb as much as inside the womb. While I respect Ms. Colbert's right to an opinion, it also appears to be very broad based in condemnation and very shallow in statistical support.
I travel in many circles in which pro-life advocates are engaged in stopping domestic violence, have taken on foster children and are activists in curbing death by hunger, guns and drugs. The pro-life focus does tend to be on the unborn and for good reason - they cannot speak or defend themselves.
Human life from conception to birth is extremely precious, most all people (please excuse my broad-based statement) have a mile-wide smile when seeing a new baby come into the world. What an eternal joy! Would these same people have a smile on their face witnessing a procedure that unmercifully destroys 1.2 million lives a year?
With these numbers, I don't find it unusual that some would focus attention on all available options for a human life, planned or unplanned.
