It helps to understand existing gun laws

Kathy Carter, in her letter July 18 complains that gun dealers don't need an Illinois license. And she says the result is that there are too many guns available to people who should not have a gun in their possession. What she doesn't understand is that every gun dealer must have a federal license. So how is an Illinois license on top of a federal license going to make us any safer? This is a good example of people who don't know anything about guns trying to tell us what we should do to make ourselves safer.
