West Dundee campers cool off with help from fire department

Blistering steamy weather combined with lots of soccer made for some extremely hot kids Friday at Dundee Middle School in West Dundee.

With the help of Rutland-Dundee Fire Rescue the 75 campers and counselors attending the Chicago Eagles Soccer Camp were able to beat the heat.

The weeklong camp for kids 5 to 14 is one of many the Eagles are conducting this summer in the Chicago area.

Camp Director Jeff Dusek says the counselors are almost all college-level players and many are from around the world.

The camps have been held for more than 30 years and more than 10,000 kids have participated.

"When it gets really hot like this week, we look for other options to keep cool," Dusek said.

This was the second in as many days the fire department came out to hose down the campers and cool them off.
