Lawlessness causing us to lose faith in government

Although we are a nation of laws, what good are they if they're not enforced? Many situations involving our federal government where laws or treaties dictate how our government should respond, are spiraling out of control due to a lack of enforcement.

Situations like Iran constantly breaking the rules of the nuclear deal while pursuing the development of nuclear weapons, China capturing assets in the South China Sea and building military facilities, lawbreakers in the IRS, VA, State Department and other government organizations who skate away without punishment or accountability, some retiring with an overly generous pension or running for president.

Putin's aggression in Ukraine is mostly unchallenged, encouraging more aggression. Our president changes laws he has no authority to change, and doesn't enforce laws, like immigration, that he has sworn to uphold.

He didn't even enforce his own red line in Syria. True, the courts have tried to halt some of this lawlessness, but only after much time has passed and damage done.

But the courts can't keep up with the growing lawlessness. As a citizen, I wonder where this will all lead, and how I will be affected. Will laws be arbitrarily changed or not enforced in areas like homeownership, property rights, financial assets, tax laws, etc.? Will my freedom become more limited?

Already local law enforcement is under attack in this country, and without our local law enforcement, who will enforce our laws? Certainly not the politicians and political appointees of our executive branch, as they have shown they only enforce the laws they agree with and that benefit their agenda.

The biggest challenge to a new administration will be figuring out how to govern when a large portion of the population has lost faith and trust in their government.
