Get cozy: Batavia Quilt & Textile show is this weekend

The Batavia Depot Museum's annual Quilt & Textile Show opened its three-day run Friday in Shannon Hall at Eastside Community Center.

The show, with the theme "A Traditional Show With a Contemporary Interest," continues 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

More than 150 contemporary and historic quilts and textile pieces will be featured in the exhibit hall. A special exhibit of commemorative quilts will be on display on the stage. The quilts depict special life events, like birth, marriage, graduation, college, anniversary, and retirement.

Quilt and textile sales, as well as handcrafted gifts, will be available in the Artisan Market.

Lynn Contri, a professional quilt appraiser, will be at the ready from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The fee is $35 per quilt and people should allow 30 minutes for each appraisal. Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments can be made by contacting the museum at (630) 406-5274.

Admission is $6, $5 for people 60 and older, and free for kids 10 and younger. Visit bataviaquiltshow.com.
