Huntley board to review gymnastics academy expansion, new paint store

Huntley village officials Thursday night will review plans for the expansion of a gymnastics academy and a new paint store in town.

Huntley Gymnastics Academy and Academy of Cheer, 10761 Wolf Drive, is seeking a special-use permit for an indoor recreation facility in a 10,000-square-foot space at 10725 Wolf Drive within Wolf Business Park, which is zoned for manufacturing.

The academy's existing 15,000-square-foot gymnastics center received approval for a special-use permit for indoor recreation in June 2011. The proposed expansion would be on the east-facing side of the westernmost portion of the building and would serve as a training facility for cheerleading, documents show.

Nearby there are similar indoor recreation facilities within the business park including CrossFit Huntley, Center Stage Dance Academy, Huntley Cheer Association, and Next Level Travel Baseball, which also received a special-use permit earlier this year.

The board also will consider a zoning request for a new 3,500-square-foot Sherwin-Williams paint store planned for the southeast corner of Route 47 and Powers Road in Huntley Crossing shopping center, just south of the Culver's restaurant.

Both projects received a favorable recommendation from the village plan commission. The village board meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the board room of village hall, 10987 Main St.
