Think of families who played by rules

Recent front page articles have shown the plight of a family recently deported. Seemingly lost is the fact that this family was here illegally.

Our country built on immigrants has always been open to the plight of those wishing for a better life whether it be religious persecution, conflict of war or financial stability. We also are a country of laws and just as our government is required to follow those laws so are its citizens and those entering and wishing to become one.

As a person whose grandparents immigrated to this country by following the laws: sponsorship, housing and job opportunity I find it offensive that a family can be vetted by our country, found to be illegible based on our criteria and then use a guise of "sanctuary" to again bypass our rule of law.

So now the outrage is with the seemingly uncaring disregard by our government for a family wishing to make a better life for themselves. How about to all those families that are wishing for the same things for theirs, but are waiting for their due process, however long and cumbersome that process might be in order to fulfill their dreams?

I think all of us want better in our lives, but we work hard for those things, follow the rules and are rewarded based on our commitment to our goals. This family is no different and should be treated no differently.
