More than 7,500 attended Wheeling, Prospect Heights festival
Wheeling officials say this year's Rock 'n' Run the Runway festival was a big success, with more than 7,500 people attending the event Sunday night at Chicago Executive Airport.
The event - organized by the village, the airport and the city of Prospect Heights - included a morning 5K run/one mile-walk, which Gov. Bruce Rauner helped kick off.
In the evening, there were fireworks and live music performed by Wheeling-based Midnight and Chicago-based HiFi Superstar.
"This event was a great chance for our residents and businesses to come together and show the pride that we share in our nation, our state, and our local communities," Wheeling Village President Dean Argiris said in a news release. "It's also an opportunity to get an up-close look at Chicago Executive Airport, which remains an incredible economic asset for the entire region."
