Downers Grove man found in retention pond identified

An elderly man who was found dead in a Downers Grove retention pond on Monday has been identified, but his death is still under investigation.

Richard Warren, 74 of Downers Grove, was found at about 9:30 a.m. on Monday in a retention pond on the 200 block of Village Drive, according to a release from the DuPage County Coroner's office on Wednesday.

Warren's death is presumed to be due to drowning, but is pending toxicology results and still under investigation by the coroner and the Downers Grove Police Department, according to the release.

The address where Warren was found is also the location of Oak Trace, a senior living community that includes different levels of independent and assisted living facilities.
