Train has fallen off the tracks

Dear Gov. Rauner, Speaker Madigan, Senate President Cullerton and all state senators and representatives:

We (YOU) are at a pivotal point in our state's history. As a longtime citizen of Illinois I am appalled and disgusted by the political games that are being played despite the dire circumstances we are facing, and have been facing, for some time.

Please remember the following: you represent the citizens of this state. You work for us. It's not the other way around.

Somewhere, somehow, the train has fallen off the tracks and you have forgotten what your roles and responsibilities should be. If you cannot do your job you should not have that job. Private citizens who do not, or cannot, do their job lose their job.

The same should happen in the political arena.

I urge you to do your job. Represent the citizens of Illinois. Take care of your constituents, and do the right thing.

For those of you who have been in office for a long period of time, it is time to go. Let new blood and new ideas come to light. Political office does not equate to a long-term political career.
