No one injured in Gurnee fire, officials say

A fire was contained to a bedroom of a two-story house Tuesday night in Gurnee, authorities said.

Crews were dispatched to the fire on the 300 block of Churchill Lane at 7 p.m., according to the Gurnee Fire Department. The house is in a subdivision north of Washington Street and east of Hunt Club Road.

Firefighters used a single hose line to extinguish the fire in the second-floor bedroom. A cause of the fire was not immediately known and remained under investigation, said Lt. Tim Steffens.

The homeowners were able to escape safely, Steffens said. No injuries were reported.

There were fire damage to the bedroom and its contents, plus smoke damage throughout the house.
