Businesses' turn to face off in Fox Lake water fights

Water fights pitting teams of local businesses, along with food and live music, highlighted the final day of the Fox Lake Fire Department's 58th annual Fireman's Festival on Sunday.

Teams of firefighters did battle Saturday during the opening day of two-day fest outside Volunteer Fire Department Bingo Hall in Ingleside.

During the fights, teams use water shot from fire hoses to push a small, empty beer keg across a white line. Each team consists of five people - two holding the nozzle, two e holding the fire hose and one anchor.

When the event began, proceeds were used to buy equipment for the fire department. Today, proceeds help fund training and the maintenance of a firefighters memorial, as well as other community projects.
