Lake Zurich transparency lauded
The Illinois Policy Institute has recognized the transparency of Lake Zurich village government by granting it a Sunshine Award. Lake Zurich received a 97 percent transparency score from the statewide good-government group. Only 79 taxing bodies out of nearly 7,000 in Illinois have received the Sunshine Award, officials said. Local governments can receive the Sunshine Award by having what the organization deems to be outstanding online transparency performance by accounting for how taxpayer dollars are being spent, among other things.
