Food the highlight of Greek Fest in Palatine

Greek Fest, a celebration of the music, the culture and, of course, the cuisine of Greece, opened Friday night at St. Nectarios Greek Orthodox Church in Palatine.

The event continues from 3 p.m. to midnight Saturday and noon to 11 p.m. Sunday at the church, 133 S. Roselle Road. Drive-through food hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Friday and noon to 9 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Visitors can enjoy live music - traditional Greek as well as more modern tunes - along with Greek dance exhibitions, kids' games and Plaka shopping.

Free parking with shuttle bus service to the festival grounds is available at Holy Family Parish, 2515 Palatine Road, Inverness, and Marion Jordan School, Palatine and Harrison roads, Palatine.
