Man charged with attacking West Dundee senior

A West Dundee man with a history of domestic abuse has been accused of striking a woman he knew in the face with a cellphone, according to Kane County court records.

Brett O. Fix, 31, of the 400 block of Highland Avenue, is free on a recognizance bond after his arrest on felony charges of aggravated battery to a victim older than 60, and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and domestic battery, records show.

Fix is accused of striking the woman June 18 and pushing her to the floor during an altercation at a residence on the 400 block of Highland, records show. Fix also is accused of running from police after they were called to the scene.

Fix was arrested by Carpentersville police and charged in May 2010 with felony aggravated battery to a pregnant woman, records show. Fix, who was accused of punching the woman in the face, eventually pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of misdemeanor domestic battery and was sentenced to two years of probation, community service and assessed $3,050 in fines and court costs, records show.

He also served nine days in jail and completed his probation satisfactorily, records show.

Fix was charged with unlawful use of a recording device in March 2008 in Elgin. He served two days in jail and pleaded guilty, receiving 24 months probation, records show. Additional information on that offense was not available.

He had previous arrests for driving while his license was suspended, transportation of open alcohol and retail theft, records show. Fix is next due in court July 8.
