Gilberts man injured in motorcycle crash

A 42-year-old Gilberts man was hospitalized after the motorcycle he was driving collided Friday night with the rear of a Jeep in Lake in the Hills.

Police said Dustin Dietz was driving north on Randall Road just north of Village Road about 7:23 p.m. Friday when he struck the rear/side or the Jeep Wrangler, throwing him from the motorcycle.

Dietz was taken to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin, then transferred to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge for treatment. His condition was not immediately available Sunday.

Officers from the Lake in the Hills Traffic Accident Investigation Unit were called to the scene and Randall Road was reduced to one lane in each direction for approximately 2.5 hours while the traffic crash was investigated. The investigation is continuing, police said.
