On June 23rd, College Planner Offers Cost-Saving Tips at Five Seasons Northbrook

Do you have children who are looking to enroll in college-but you don't want to rob your retirement to make it happen?

If so, then invest an hour on Thursday, June 23rd and come to Five Seasons Family Sports Club in Northbrook, where a college planning consultant will offer tips on maximizing your child's financial aid.

Starting at 6 p.m., Lora Georgieva, founder of Destination College, begins a free presentation at the club, 1300 Techny Road, that has helped numerous families save thousands of dollars over the years.

Among other topics, she will offer insight on how to pick the best major and college for your child, what admission officers anticipate, and how to avoid common mistakes when filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.

The session is especially helpful for parents of high school students, particularly sophomores and beyond, as well as college students. Free refreshments will be provided.

Founded in 2010, Destination College's mission is to make college affordable for everybody, through reducing the cost of college for middle- and high-income families, and helping fund college for low-income families through the firm's not-for-profit arm.

Georgieva, who has two grade school-age children, is a Vernon Hills resident. Her firm is based in Lincolnshire.

A Certified College Planner with more than 10 years of college planning and financial planning experience, Georgieva has led many programs, including a session coordinated through Congressman Bob Dold's office, as well as for CPA and law offices, financial planning firms, Future Business Leaders of America, and local public libraries.

She is also on the board of the Career Council at Vernon Hills High School.
