Prince of Peace United Methodist Church located at 1400 S. Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village is Celebrating Native American Sunday on June 26 at 9:30am at its regular Worship Service. All are invited for this special service where a Special Offering for Native American Ministries will be taken.

Mr. Andrew Johnson will be the speaker of the day. A Hinsdale resident of over 21 years, Johnson was formerly the executive director of the American Indian Center of Chicago. He is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation and came to the Center with over 30 years of experience in the corporate world. Throughout his career, he has been a key member of the executive management team at multiple corporations in addition to having extensive depth in the nonprofit industry. Johnson is a registered CPA in Illinois with a bachelor's degree from San Jose State University and an MBA from the University of Southern California.

Aside from working with Native Americans, Johnson enjoys playing basketball and fishing. He also facilitates a weekly class at the Union Church of Hinsdale on social justice and faith. He is supported by his wife, Penny, of thirty-one years, and three sons, Jacob (28), Noah (25), and Aaron (20).

The American Indian Center of Chicago was organized in 1953 by the Chicago Indian community in response to a flood of the First People of this country from reservations throughout North America. In important ways, it has served as a model for the many urban centers and other social service and educational organizations that have arisen across the country. Throughout its history, AIC has been the principal cultural resource for Indian Chicago.

Prince of Peace welcoming statement: Believing in God's inclusive love, we welcome all into full participation in the congregation, regardless of age, ability, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, faith background, family configuration, or socioeconomic status.
