Barrington Hills police officer, Lake in the Hills man injured in crash

A Lake in the Hills man and a Barrington Hills police officer were seriously injured Sunday morning in a two-vehicle crash involving a squad car, officials said.
At 3:09 a.m., Kevin James, 19, was driving a Hyundai Tucson west on County Line Road near Bellwood Drive when his vehicle collided with a Ford Explorer squad car driven by officer Dominic Caputo, 54, according to a news release from Barrington Hills police.
After being cut from their vehicles, both drivers were taken to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital with serious but nonlife threatening injures, authorities said.
County Line Road was closed for several hours after the crash, which is under investigation by Barrington Hills police and the Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team.
