West Dundee garage fire causes $50,000 in damage

Nobody was injured Tuesday night in a West Dundee garage fire that caused roughly $50,000 in damage, fire officials said.

At 11:17 p.m., fire crews responded to the 400 block of Highland Avenue for a report of a fire in the garage, which is detached from the residence, according to a news release from the West Dundee Fire Department. Smoke and fire conditions were moderate when firefighters arrived and began battling the fire, which was extinguished by 11:40 p.m.

The garage was not occupied at the time of the fire, officials said, but the structure and its contents, including a vehicle, were damaged by smoke and fire.

The cause of the fire, which officials said is likely an accident, is under investigation.
