Day, whose wife is from the Columbus area and who is a member at Muirfield Village, has never finished better than a tie for 27th at the Memorial. ... Justin Rose withdrew because of back pain. The field still includes six of the top 10 players in the world, including all of the top five. ... Davis Love III was the last player 40 or older to win on the PGA Tour at the Wyndam Championship in August, a stretch of 33 tournaments. ... Johnny Miller is the Memorial honoree this year, while John Garrity of Sports Illustrated is the journalism honoree. The Memorial will posthumously honor Leo Diegel and Horton Smith, with Rhonda Glenn as the posthumous journalism honoree. ... Steve Stricker is not in the field this week because his daughter, Bobbi Maria, is graduating high school.

Notes: The tournament starts Friday. It is the first of only three 54-hole tournaments on the LPGA schedule. The others are the Walmart Northwest Arkansas Championship and the Toto Japan Classic. ... Along with being the first player since Inbee Park in 2013 to win three straight tournaments, Ariya Jutanugarn is the first player in LPGA history to have her first three victories come in consecutive events. The Thai is not playing this week. ... The field includes high school sophomore Elizabeth Wang from San Marino, California, who earned a spot by winning the 2015 Junior PGA Championship last year. ... Lydia Ko's lead on the money list is down to just over $120,000 over Jutanugarn. ... Annika Sorenstam holds the tournament record at 17-under 196. She did that twice, in 1998 and 2005. ... Gerina Piller is No. 15 in the women's world ranking. She has to stay there by July 11 to be part of the U.S. team at the Olympics.

Chris Wood (28) became the fourth straight BMW PGA Championship winner in his 20s, the longest such streak since the event began in 1972. ... Five Swedes have won the Nordea Masters seven times. Alex Noren and Jesper Parnevik won it twice. The others were Joakim Haeggman, Peter Hanson and Richard S. Johnson. ... Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed the Bro Hof course. While it is one of the longer courses at 7,511 yards, the winning score has progressively become lower - 11 under, 15 under, 19 under and 21 under the last time it was held there in 2013.

Miguel Angel Jimenez returns to the tour for the first time since April 17 outside Atlanta. The Spaniard has been on the European Tour, making two cuts in four events. His best was 13th in the Shenzhen International. ... Jay Haas is a three-time winner of the Principal Charity Classic. Haas has only one top 10 this year. ... The 1,531 birdies at Harbor Shores was a record for the Senior PGA Championship. It beat the previous mark of 1,347 birdies in 2011 at Valhalla.
