Fourth suspect arrested in Bartlett burglary

A fourth suspect has been arrested in connection with a burglary to a house in Bartlett, authorities said Tuesday.

Police on Friday arrested Martavious K. Hempstead, 18, of the 1200 block of Robin Drive in Carol Stream, and charged him with residential burglary and resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The arrest came six days after three other suspects were apprehended in the burglary of a house in the 100 block of Wilcox Drive. Police say the fourth suspect ran from the scene.

Authorities said a witness called them about 6:50 p.m. Saturday, May 21, after hearing glass break and seeing four males enter the residence through a broken rear window.

Officers arrested Travious Brown-Utley, 18, of the 1100 block of Longford Road in Bartlett, and Reginald C. Tyus, 18, of the 1400 block of Bear Flag Drive in Hanover Park, while they were inside the home, police said. A 17-year-old boy was detained after he ran from the scene.

They were all charged with residential burglary, and the 17-year-old was also charged with resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

Brown-Utley and Tyus appeared in court May 22 where a judge set bail for each of them at $10,000. The 17-year-old was petitioned to DuPage County Juvenile Court and later released to his parents.

A judge set bail for Hempstead at $7,500 during a court appearance Saturday. He is due in court again June 6.
