A Campton Hills man wielded a small knife near relatives and grabbed his brother-in-law by the neck - an altercation at Delnor Hospital in Geneva last year that led to a lockdown, according to trial testimony yesterday at the man's trial. Justin B. Patzer, 31, later threatened to kill his sister if she tried to help police find him, testimony also indicated at his bench trial in Kane County. The trial resumes this morning. Man critically injured fleeing police, jumping from O'Hare terminal

Erin Johnson, a 22-year-old Plainfield man was listed in critical condition yesterday at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge with injuries suffered after jumping from an upper-level terminal to a lower-level terminal at O'Hare International Airport while fleeing authorities Tuesday night. Johnson was taken off a Spirit Airlines flight earlier in the day and came back in the evening to get on another flight. Full story.

Two accused of setting portable toilet on fire in Mt. Prospect

Two teens from Mount Prospect face felony arson charges for setting fire to a portable toilet using burning wood chips, authorities said yesterday. According to a news release, Daniel J. Mathews, 18, of the 300 block of S. Hi Lusi Avenue, and a 17-year-old, whose identity was not released because he is a juvenile, both admitted their actions to officers near Fairview School Park around 10 p.m. Saturday. Full story.

Wauconda firefighters want to thank anonymous donor who bought their groceries

If you're the person who purchased groceries for some Wauconda firefighters at the local Jewel-Osco supermarket last weekend, they want to thank you. Lt. E.J. Miller and two other members of the Wauconda Fire District's gold shift were at the register with hamburger meat, buns, baked beans and bags of french fries Sunday afternoon when they received a call about a possible fire and had to leave. $1 million lottery ticket sold in Mundelein

A Mega Millions ticket worth $1 million was sold at the Circle K at 1991 W. Maple Ave. in Mundelein before Tuesday night's drawing. Lee Salazar, an assistant manager at the store, said last night that people have been pouring into the store all day checking their tickets and asking the staff if it's true that the $1 million ticket was sold there.
