Longtime volunteer chosen Barrington parade grand marshal

Clyde McComb, a longtime Barrington resident and active community volunteer, will serve as the grand marshal of this year's Barrington 4th of July Parade, event organizers announced Wednesday.

A native of Missouri, McComb has lived in Barrington for 52 years, during which time he's served as an elder at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, served on Barrington's Little League Board, as a Future Cities Project Mentor for Immanuel Lutheran School in Palatine, volunteered with the Barrington Area Council on Aging, and served on the Barrington 4th of July Parade committee for 23 years.

The parade committee said McComb is a wonderful representative of this year's parade theme, "The Best of Barrington."

Applications to participate in this year's parade are being accepted from now until June 17. Application forms, fees, rules, and information on float judging is at www.barringtonparade.com. The parade will begin at 10 a.m. July 4.
