Armed man robs Mount Prospect Subway

Mount Prospect police are investigating the armed robbery Tuesday morning of the Subway restaurant at 1705 W. Algonquin Road.

According to police, a white man entered the Subway and approached the cashier to ask a question about prices. As the employee responded, the man took out a black handgun and demanded the cash from the register be put in a white bag, police said. There were no customers in the restaurant.

After taking an undisclosed amount of money, the man got into a white four-door sedan parked nearby and drove west on Algonquin Road.

The man is described as about 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 225 pounds and approximately 35 years old. He was wearing a black baseball hat, a black jacket, dark pants, dark shoes and black sunglasses. Police said the thief is likely the same man who robbed an Arlington Heights Mobil gas station on Sunday morning.

Anyone with information should call police at (847) 870-5654.
