Kids can build a birdhouse in Hoffman Estates

Children are invited to "Build a Birdhouse," sponsored by the Village of Hoffman Estates Sustainability Commission, at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at the Susan Kenley-Rupnow Public Works Center, 2305 Pembroke Ave.

The commission will present a brief information session about bird nesting, and members of Carpenter's Local Union 839 will be on hand to assist children and their parents with the birdhouse construction.

The event is free, but requires an RSVP. Participation is limited to the first 30 children registered, and parents should plan to attend.

Materials will be supplied by the Sustainability Commission. Please bring a battery-operated screwdriver with a Phillips-head bit, or a medium Phillips-head screwdriver.

To register, visit hoffmanestates.org/SC, call (847) 781-2606 or email grow2green@hoffmanestates.org with child name(s), age and contact information.
