Schaumburg Public Works Open House May 21

The village of Schaumburg invites the public to its Engineering & Public Works Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the department's headquarters at 714 S. Plum Grove Road.

Participants will be offered a behind-the-scenes look at what skills, tools and equipment are required to maintain the village's infrastructure.

The event will include touch-a-truck, equipment displays, informational booths, demonstrations, free giveaways, snacks and more.

In addition, residents not able to attend the April 23 recycling event will have the opportunity to bring two boxes of paper for shredding.

Document shredding will be available from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or until the truck is full. No cardboard, plastic bags, books, binders, CDs, hard drives or metallic objects of any kind will be accepted.
