Police: Stolen car may have been used in Waukegan robberies

Waukegan police located a stolen vehicle Friday that may have been used in three robberies the day before, officials said.

The robberies occurred between 3:30 p.m. and 6:20 p.m. Thursday. In each case, masked men who had been riding in a black SUV or van robbed individual people. In two of the cases, the bandits pointed a handgun at the victims, police said.

No one was injured in any of the robberies.

Police believe the vehicle used in the robberies is a 2003 Lexus SUV reported stolen Wednesday outside a Waukegan home improvement store. Waukegan police found the stolen vehicle about 3 p.m. Friday near Archer and George avenues with four juveniles inside, and all are now are in custody. Police are still investigating whether the juveniles are suspects in the robberies, according to a news release.

Anyone with information can call the Waukegan police tip line at (847) 360-9001.
