Hanover Park teen gets probation for misdemeanor theft

Hanover Park teen sentenced to two years probation in exchange for guilty plea to misdemeanor theft.

A Hanover Park teen pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft and was sentenced to two years' probation, court records show.

Alex Kloss, 19, was also ordered to participate in the Cook County sheriff's work alternative program for 10 days and fined $284, the Cook County state's attorney office said.

Prosecutors say Kloss and a juvenile co-offender approached a man shortly after midnight on Oct. 22 asking to pet his dog.

The juvenile asked for money. When the man refused, the juvenile asked for his cellphone. After the man refused a third time, the juvenile lifted his shirt to reveal what police later learned was a pellet gun, prosecutors said during Kloss' bond hearing last year.
