Summer culinary camps offered

Young people wanting to gain skills in the kitchen can attend culinary camps this summer at Technology Center of DuPage.

Starting in June, TCD in Addison is hosting eight identical summer culinary camps for students who will be entering grades eight, nine and 10 next fall.

Campers will be guided by a TCD chef instructor in professional kitchen terminology and teamwork, basic skills, fundamental cooking methods and essentials of baking and pastry. The cost is $100 and each camp is limited to 15 participants, who will receive a cap and apron at the end of the camp.

The culinary classes meet 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday, starting with a chef demo, then hands-on work in the kitchen, followed by eating the culinary creations and cleanup.

The camp takes place in the training kitchen of TCD's award-winning Professional Cooking, Baking and Service program in the TCD building, 301 S. Swift Road in Addison.

For session dates and more information about Culinary Camp, visit www.tcdupage.org or call Chef Kyle Neuner at (630) 691-7503.
